● (to be prepared for something bad )= かくごする ・ 覚悟する
I'm expecting bad news = わるい しらせを かくごしています。・ 悪い 知らせを 覚悟しています。
(general expectation )= はず
I expect to win = かつ はずです。 ・ 勝つ はずです。

● (to wait for )= まつ ・ 待つ
I'm expecting visitors = おきゃくさんを まっています。 ・ お客さんを 待っています。

● (to want )= use verb in the ～て form + ほしい for your own expectations and て form + ほしい という for reporting those of other people
I expect you to arrive by five = ごじまでに ついて ほしいです。 ・ 五時までに 着いて ほしいです。
my boss expects me to do overtime = ボスは ざんぎょうして ほしいと いいました。 ・ ボスは 残業して ほしいと 言いました。
