1 want something (for something) ; want something (to be) done ; want (somebody) to do something to have a desire or a wish for something कुछ चाहना या (किसी की) इच्‍छा रखना

NOTE Want और would like एक ही अर्थ में प्रयुक्त होते हैं परंतु ‘would like’ अधिक शिष्‍ट या परिमार्जित प्रयोग है

NOTE यद्यपि इस क्रिया का सातत्‍यबोधक कालों (continuous tenses) में प्रयोग नहीं होता तथा इसका '-ing' युक्त वर्तमान कृदंत (present participle) रूप काफ़ी प्रचलित है
